Sponsored NCAA Division 1 Athletes: 2021-2022 Season
Starting this season, collegiate athletes can now benefit from their own name, image, and likeness. We're proud to announce that we're sponsoring four talented Division 1 wrestlers for 2021-2022! Meet the first Fight Site college athletes.
One of the pound-for-pound best wrestlers from the top position in the NCAA, Pittsburgh's Jake Wentzel broke out in the 2020-2021 season by defeating NCAA champion Mekhi Lewis, then making good on that win with a run to the NCAA finals at 165 lbs.
After winning an NJCAA title at 184, Charles Small transferred to Hofstra University, where he has broken out as a leader on the team. In the 2020-2021 season, Charles placed third at the EIWA conference championship, qualified for NCAAs and picked up a big win at nationals.
Pennsylvania state medalist Colin Shannon will see consistent action at 174 pounds this year after American University sat out the 2020-2021 season. Already the owner of more than 50 collegiate victories, Colin had the most major decisions in the NCAA in 2019-2020.
A Pennsylvania state medalist and Fargo All-American in high school, Ben Root is our second wrestler from American University! Ben's style is "throw or be thrown", and that philosophy earned him 9 victories by fall in the 2019-2020 season.
You'll get to know all of our sponsored athletes in-depth in our first Fight Site Athlete Podcast, stay tuned!
