Turan Bayramov (AZE) debuts in the pound for pound rankings at #24 for beating #12 Timur Bizhoev (RUS) in the semifinals of the 74 KG Military World Championships. #12 Timur Bizhoev drops thirteen spots to #25 for his loss to #24 Turan Bayramov (AZE) along with his loss to #21 (P4P) David Baev (RUS) in the finals of the Dmitri Korkin Memorial this year.
As an aside, Bizhoev’s year has been bizarre, beating Baev in the semifinals of Russian Nationals, losing to #16 (P4P) Cherman Valiev (RUS) in the finals, beating #1 (P4P) Zaurbek Sidakov in the finals of the Commonwealth Cup, then losing to #21 (P4P) David Baev (RUS) in the finals of the Dmitri Korkin Memorial, then finally losing to #24 (P4P) Turan Bayramov (AZE) in the semifinals of the Military World Championships. Bizhoev has the best win of anyone in Russia this season in the form of Sidakov, but also took three losses to Baev, Valiev, and Bayramov (whose career will have an article about itself at the start of the year).
#19 Taimuraz Salkazanov (SVK) beat #22 Akhmed Usmanov (RUS) 4-0 at the PWL-6 and took the #1 spot at 79 KG.
